Snow Day

London received its greatest snowfall in 20 years Sunday night and Monday morning. All bus services were cancelled. So were most Tube trains. So I worked from home and made sure to take a break to enjoy the wintry scene.

Our intrepid team of adventurers set off from our beloved Forest Glade into the howling blizzard (ok, four inches of snow):

We encountered strange indigenous tribes (our Scottish and Italian neighbors) along our journey, clad in the raiment of an ancient era (1988!):

Chief Explorer Sophie boldly led us into uncharted territory, pointing the way with her Bink-o-matic:

Eventually Chief Explorer Sophie's bold leadership developed into brave cuddling:

Were it not for Chief Explorer Sophie's heroic cuddles, our fate would have been written in, um, you know, the icy script of death's hand or something.

Most schools were cancelled, and many workplaces advised their workers not to try to go in. A lot of people ventured instead out into the snowy fields and forest nearby:

Even more amazing than the rare snow were the smiles on so many faces. People never smile in London (at least not in our part of town)! But today, people laughed and played with something as simple as frozen water. It's the simple things in life that can make all the difference.
