Sophie's First Bike Ride

Nathali got a new bike for her birthday, together with a seat for Sophie. Sophie absolutely loved taking it out for a spin -- although she wouldn't let go of her helmet! (We think she was afraid it would fall off.)

Sophie is starting to speak in short sentences.  This morning, she said, "Daddy, come on help wow-wow!"  (She wanted me to help change the pretend diaper on her stuffed animal dog.)

Sophie's Vocabulary

Sophie is starting to try to repeat words we say. She's built up a small vocabulary of words she understands how to use and will say unprompted:

People:

Mami (/Mommy)
Daddy (used to refer to me but also to yell for anyone she's looking for in another part of the house)
Amma (her cousin Ammon)
Lee (her cousin Lily)

Animals:

Meow
Ar-Ar (dog sound)
Quack
Ee-ah (monkey sound)
Maa (sheep sound)
[roaring sound] (for lions and tigers)

Actions:

Shay (for shake; we sing a "shake your bottle" song)
Ei (German word for small kids when they give someone a gentle pat)

Food:

Ba (for banana)
Chee (for cheese / Kaese)
Ei (German for "egg")

Body:

Eye
Na (for nose / Nase)
Knie (for knee, with German pronunciation, saying the "k")
Bei (for Bein / leg)

Objects:

Tick-tock (for clock)

Most importantly:

Nei (for no / Nein)
